Town of Jasper – The Mystery Rock (Mile Zero of Hwy 93)

Now symbolizing the beginning of the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93), Jasper’s big white rock is thought to have originally marked the surrounding mountains and the elevation of the railway, pre-dating the renaming of the Mt. Geikie to Edith Cavell in 1916. Today, the rock acts as a common meeting place and represents Mile Zero of the famed Parkway journey, while remembering the community’s rich railway heritage.
